Apply to Become a Therapy Dog Partner Facility
St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon works with partner facilities that want regular Therapy Dog visits for the people they serve. This page explains the program, expected timelines, and how to apply as a partner facility.
Note: This form is an application to request regular volunteer Therapy Dog services at your facility.
Becoming a Partner Facility
What Is a Partner Facility?
A partner facility is an organization that receives regular, ongoing Therapy Dog visits. Most often:
- weekly
- bi‑weekly
From our trained volunteer teams. These long‑term partnerships allow our volunteers and their dogs to build strong, meaningful relationships with the individuals they visit, which is a core part of the program’s impact and success.
Placement and Fit
When establishing a new partner facility, the fit between a volunteer team and the environment is our highest priority. We take into account the facility’s needs, the population served, the setting, and the individual strengths and preferences of our volunteers and their dogs. Ensuring the right match supports safety, comfort, and a positive experience for everyone involved, including the people you serve.
High Demand and the Waitlist
Our Therapy Dog Program is in exceptionally high demand, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm from communities across BC and Yukon. Because of this, many new facilities are placed on a waitlist while we work to match volunteers appropriately and responsibly. We genuinely appreciate your patience as we navigate this demand; thoughtful placement ensures the long‑term success of each partnership.
