About St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon
At St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon, we believe that everyone should be equipped with the skills to save lives, whether at work, at home, or in the community.
For over 115 years, we’ve been empowering individuals across the province and territory with the training, confidence, and compassion to respond when it matters most. Supported by over 2,000 dedicated volunteers, our impact goes beyond first aid: we are a trusted presence at public events, a vital resource during emergencies, and a passionate advocate for safety in our communities.
Our organization continues to enrich communities across BC and the Yukon through charitable programs and services, including our Medical First Responders, Therapy Dog and Youth programs. We are deeply committed to serving our communities with care and dedication.
With a rich history spanning over 900 years, we continue to evolve, ensuring that individuals and communities are always ready to save lives, stay safe, and remain resilient, no matter what challenges come their way.

Our Reach and Impact in Numbers
Our Ambition
Our National Strategic Plan sets the ambition for St. John Ambulance to be recognized as the leader in first aid and community health and safety across Canada. By aligning our efforts with this national vision, every action we take in BC and Yukon will contribute to a cohesive, impactful journey towards excellence in community care.
Our Values:
SERVE WITH COMPASSION
We are there when people need us: honour and treat others how we want to be treated; listen and appreciate; lift others up with patience, generosity and respect.
EMBRACE CHANGE
Be forward-thinking and see change as an opportunity to make things better: be receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things; challenge the status quo constructively; be open and willing to learn from both successes and failures.
FOSTER CONTAGIOUS COLLABORATION
Work together openly with no silos: seek and share ideas to come up with the best solution; welcome diverse voices to help create meaningful change; participate fully; celebrate team spirit.
STEP UP
Take ownership of our actions, behaviours, decisions and attitudes, personally and on behalf of our teams: be proactive; jump into action with a sense of urgency; respond and follow-up in a timely, effective way; be accountable.
Charitable Programs and Services
St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon is a trusted provider of health and safety programs designed to build stronger, more resilient communities. We deliver high-quality first aid training for workplaces, families, and individuals, and offer essential first aid products and services to help people be prepared for the unexpected. Alongside this, our Community Services teams—Medical First Responders, Therapy Dog volunteers, and Youth leaders—offer compassionate, skilled support in times of need.
As a profit-for-purpose charity, every course taken and every product purchased supports the life-changing work of our volunteers across the province and territory. It’s training with impact—care with purpose.
Your Efforts for Good, Multiplied
Imagine the impact if everyone contributed just a little to the greater good. You’ve seen in this report how one good turn, multiplied, adds up to significantly healthier, safer, more resilient communities across British Columbia and the Yukon.
You can add to the impact in many ways. You can choose to make a donation that will fund our community programs or take a first aid course — which also helps fund programs while giving you life-saving skills and adding to the number of good neighbours trained in emergency response. Your contribution will start a ripple of positive change, helping us build communities where safety, care, and support are the guiding principles. Small starts, multiplied by many, grow into big changes.
